The remembrance service for Stephen Lloyd took place yesterday with more than 700 people filling the church of St Martin-in-the-Fields.
Andrew Croft, Chief Executive of CAN was proud to be part of the congregation, gathered to celebrate and give thanks for the life and work of Stephen, who died last August.
Senior counsel, and formerly a senior partner at Bates, Wells and Braithwaite, Stephen was renowned in the sector for his work and campaigning for charities, CICs and social enterprise.
Readings and tributes from work colleagues and family members included Sir Nicholas Young, Sir Roger Gifford and Sir Tim Smitt.
Andrew Croft said of the service,
"It was a fantastic event and really captured the essence of the man, although tinged with sadness. In the sector, he was unanimously liked and respected and he will be sorely missed."
Bates, Wells and Braithwate pay tribute to Stephen on their website and have announced an annual memorial award to support the development of practical, sustainable ways of achieving social change.
