On 17th September leading ethical bank, Charity Bank launched ‘Follow the Money’, a campaign that sees them encourage charities, businesses and individuals to move some of their savings or reserves to an ethical provider.
CAN back Follow the Money campaign
Andrew Croft, Chief Executive, CAN, said:
"Doing good and making sound business decisions are not mutually exclusive. Charity Bank were instrumental in CAN's purchase of our first CAN Mezzanine building with a loan. This has prevented hundreds of Social Sector workers from being gentrified out of core London markets as commercial prices have rocketed".
Since the purchase of that initial property, CAN have built the CAN Mezzanine portfolio and now provide office space, meeting room and hot desk solutions dedicated to social organisations across five locations; Old Street, Loman Street, Hounslow, Borough and most recently they have taken on the management of The BWB Charity Hub, Queen Street Place.
Collectively these buildings provide more than 150 social organisations and 1,100 individuals the office solutions they need. Without the support of Charity Bank at that initial step this would not have been possible.
Follow the Money Campaign
The Charity Bank ‘Follow the Money’ campaign will see 38 of the charities and social enterprises that are supported by Charity Bank loans showcase how money saved with an ethical provider can have a positive impact on society.
Charity Bank are calling on charities, businesses and individuals to question how their savings are currently used. It’s asking them to consider whether that money could go beyond simply earning a fair return and be channelled into the social sector to help to make a positive contribution on society.
Follow the Money, now in its 10th year, takes Charity Bank savers to see for themselves how their money is being used to support charities and social enterprises. This year’s 38-stop tour, will run until October 5th.
