The UK Social Enterprise Awards recognise social enterprises and their leaders for the valuable contribution they have made to society.
CAN’s Director, Impact and Investment, Rohan Martyres will be presenting the award to the winner of the Market Builder category at the awards ceremony and gala dinner which will take place this evening at the Grand Connaught Rooms in Covent Garden.
The nominees for the Market Builder Award are Salford City Council, Santander, Social Investment Scotland & Asda, Wates and Zurich.
Change Please, an organisation that provides employment to homeless people by training them as baristas, has been nominated for a ‘One to Watch’ award.
Change Please have received support from CAN's fast growth programme, CAN3 to accelerate their turnover and social impact faster. It has benefitted from bespoke mentoring from third sector experts and business advisory support from CAN Invest.
Cemal Ezel, Co-Founder of Change Please and its partner organisation, Old Spike Roastery said, "We feel very excited and nervous to be nominated. Last year, Old Spike Roastery was nominated for Best Social Enterprise by The Independent – we were in the top five and we didn’t win that so hopefully we'll do better this year."
This year’s awards will be hosted by award-winning comedian, Nish Kumar.
