Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme

On 11 July, the Government launched a consultation on a new Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS), which is intended to help large organisations across the UK to improve energy efficiency. Under the scheme, large enterprises – including large charities and not-for-profit bodies – will be required to undertake ESOS assessments to identify cost-effective ways to save on energy bills, helping reduce bills meaning that funds can be invested in productive activities.

All organisations with 250 or more employees will be required to participate in ESOS. Organisations with fewer than 250 people will also be included if both their annual turnover exceeds EUR 50 million and annual balance sheet total exceeds EUR 43 million.

Details on the consultation can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/energy-savings-opportunity-scheme.

Responses should be submitted to: ESOS@decc.gsi.gov.uk.
