employers for childcare

CAN is a registered charity trading as a social enterprise and a certified member of Social Enterprise UK. In our Spotlight on Social Enterprise series we're highlighting the work of our inspirational collagues in the sector.

"At the heart of Employers For Childcare is a campaigning Charity set up in 1998. We identified the barrier that the lack of affordable, quality childcare presents to working parents."

"We offer a range of support services including a Family Benefits Advice Service, a salary sacrifice Childcare Voucher scheme and workshops on topics important for both parents and employers.

We are a Social Enterprise. 100% of the profit we make from the Childcare Voucher scheme is invested into our charity to support working parents with dependent children."

How do Childcare Vouchers work?

•Put simply, the childcare voucher scheme enables employees to exchange part of their monthly salary for childcare vouchers.
•This is known as salary sacrifice and the maximum allowed is £243 per month.
•The amount sacrificed is exempt from tax and National Insurance Contributions (NIC) resulting in savings of up to £933 pa per employee.
•Employers are also exempt from their NIC on the amount sacrificed by each employee which reduces their payroll bill.
•Employers for Childcare administer the scheme on behalf of our clients and charge a small fee for doing so, which comes out of the employers NIC savings.
•Employers for Childcare use the fee to fund the work of their charity.
