Gary Phillips Biography
Gary Phillips is CAN's Director of Sales and Marketing. He has over 30 years experience in sales, marketing and business development at a senior level, predominantly within the media and telecoms sectors.
He has worked for a number of major companies including the Yell Group, Ntl (now Virgin Media), Cable & Wireless and the John Lewis Partnership in roles ranging from business development and senior account management, to marketing, distribution and retail management.
He worked for CAN as a freelance consultant for nine months before being appointed as the first Head of Sales in June 2010.
He says: “Working for CAN provides me with a prime opportunity to use my commercial experience to develop business opportunities within the Third Sector and be part of a well-respected organisation that has ethical principles at its core. My parents’ involvement in the Salvation Army has shown me the real value that charities and social enterprises can bring to the communities that they work with. The calibre of CAN’s own staff was also a key factor in my decision to work in the sector. I look forward to helping CAN expand its customer base within this exciting sector.”
A key focus of Gary’s role is developing new sales and marketing initiatives to drive occupancy at existing and new sites of CAN Mezzanine, CAN’s own award-winning social enterprise providing high-quality, affordable office space exclusively for charities and social enterprises.
